VISITING SCHOOLS
I am an experienced public speaker and, over the past thirty years have visited many schools, both primary and secondary,in all parts of the country, to talk about my work, or to lead work-shops in creative writing. I have lectured in colleges, at summer schools, to writing circles and at conferences. I also love to tell traditional stories - especially ones that will freeze your blood! I am always happy to talk with teachers before a visit, to try and ensure that the school will be able to build on the day. I might give a straight talk about how I became a writer, (I signed my first contract at sixteen), or about how I came to write a particular book. I could lead a writing work-shop, which could concentrate on creating atmosphere, or characters, or the plot-line of a particular kind of story
